About this deal

Partly autobiographical, this is first of the internationally acclaimed trilogy by Judith Kerr telling the unforgettable story of a Jewish family fleeing from Germany at the start of World War II. The novel is set between 1933 and 1936, and traces the life of protagonist Anna, who is nine years old at the novel’s opening, as her family flees Germany for Switzerland, France, and, finally, England. Overall it is very well written, the right voice for the age of the narrator, funny even in parts with some bad events alluded to rather than in your face.

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit: Fifty years of the classic

Sensing the threat behind Hitler's rising power, Anna's father, a famous journalist and critic of fascism, leaves the country to establish a life in exile. Highly, highly recommended, to all young readers who enjoy historical fiction, and who are interested in the story of World War II. Elsbeth was feverishly trying to think of something she might become famous for when Heimpi who had seen them from the window opened the front door. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis.

That the second world war was one of the most awful events of the 20th century I think it is mostly clear for everyone.

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr | Goodreads

La novela tiene ya unas cuantas décadas, pero todo lo que en ella se narra se puede interpretar comparándolo con nuestra situación actual. Anna is sad to leave her friends and her home in Berlin, but she's excited at the prospect of going on an adventure. My favourite part is when she almost gives up learning to speak French and then suddenly realises she can do it.Anna wins a prize in a composition competition for a French exam, and Max wins a prize for being the strongest student in his class. Schriftstellerische Tätigkeit: 1971 veröffentlichte Judith Kerr Als Hitler das rosa Kaninchen stahl. Des Weiteren arbeitete sie als Autorin für die BBC in London und publiziert in englischer Sprache noch heute. For Anna all this is just fine if it were not because she didn’t bring her pink rabbit, which she left home and she is sure Hitler has stolen. The only person in our house with a bent nose is Bertha the maid, and hers only got like that because she broke it falling off a tram.
