About this deal

Organic fertilizers are naturally occurring substances and include biofertilizers, green manure, organic manure and compost. Blood meal, fish emulsion, seaweed are excellent sources of supplemental fertilizer if there is some obvious deficiency. Yes, if they look as though there is a deficiency in your soil that is affecting them, then as the plants come from all over the world with different soil conditions, then you might need to rectify this. If its been very wet, then its likely nitrogen levels at least may well be depleted, so a quick top up in spring with something like Growmore as growth begins helps to redress that. Don't let that information confuse you, Richierich - the guidance I've given above in my previous response is pretty much textbook!

He has designed and advised on gardens of all sizes and was responsible for the Hillier Gold Medal winning exhibit at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower for 25 years. You are reminded of the following legal requirements relating to the purchase and use of professional pesticides.

There are also a wide range of different chemicals available in the States which are not available here, including fertilizers, but also herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.A good layer of organic compost will supply your plants with everything your plants need to grow strong and healthy. Over use or over application seems to be a common problem in the States, much more so than here - I've observed this from my long standing membership of an active USA based gardening site.

Not sure about synthetic fertilisers causing toxic build up, Bathgate, or plants flopping over because of undeveloped root systems. An outstanding all-purpose fertiliser, Q4 Pelleted Fertiliser is a favourite amongst experienced gardeners and a ‘must have’ product.Originally developed for use as a base fertiliser in John Innes composts, and still approved for use in John Innes formulations, Q4 has proved an extremely versatile fertiliser suitable for use on a wide variety of crops. Thanks for all your replies and advice, particularly Bamboo for a straightforward answer relevant to the question. Started from scratch fifteen years ago, the garden is naturalistic in style, with an extensive wildflower meadow and informal planting. As well as using Q4 Pelleted Fertiliser for flowers and vegetables, it is also ideal for fruit, tomatoes and chrysanthemums.
