About this deal

For decades, armbands have been parents’ go-to buoyancy aid when taking their children swimming. However, floatsuits have many more advantages over these traditional swimming aids. Overall, both products are really good and pleasant to use. They work so much better than the armbands and are more comfortable to wear. I love the bright designs too and they also really appeal to my daughter’s taste. At Zoggs we believe that children should be introduced to water as early as possible to promote confidence, well-being and most importantly, enjoyment. Our learn to swim products are designed and categorised to suit your child's stage of swim development, helping you incorporate fun, safety and learning into every swim session. This year we've updated our range of products to stages 1 and 2 featuring our Deep Sea and Mermaid Flower prints that kids will absolutely love as their confidence in the water grows. Baby Wrap Let your child see how a floatsuit feels once they are wearing it—they tend to be much more comfortable and less restrictive than armbands.

Buoyancy aid's to swimming are designed to supplement a natural buoyancy not simply keep the wearer afloat.

A further bonus is that some suits feature UPF 50+ fabric that covers arms and legs, making them ideal for swimming outdoors in warmer weather. The Speedo Sea Squad Floatsuit is an all-in-one solution that you wear instead of your regular swimsuit. It’s got built in panels that help your child float and swim. We prefer this for using in the pool as the float panels stay in place very well and can’t go too high up. The vest is really good too and I would choose that over the floatsuit for beach use and when going to outdoor pools when you play out of the water as well. We have size 3-4 years in the floatsuit and that works well for us. When we decided to start going swimming, we bought some armbands for her but they get in the way quite a bit so we were keen to find an alternative to use that would still help her float a bit but that was less obtrusive! We have found two things actually and they’re both by the brand Speedo that is known for adult swimwear but they also make Learn To Swim items for kids. Floatsuits work with your child’s natural buoyancy, preventing them from sinking while enabling them to put their head underwater if they want to. Although they help keep the child safe in the water, they are swimming aids and aren’t intended as a safety device. Wearing the correct size of floatsuit will help keep your child as safe as possible. So choose a suit based on their weight, chest circumference and height, rather than just their age.

Although Splash About’s floatsuits are made from chlorine-resistant fabric, you still need to care for them as you would any regular swimwear. If your child isn’t keen on wearing a floatsuit, these tips should help them feel more comfortable:

Learn to Swim Floatsuit

Our stylish and chic Konfidence™ Floatsuit is a premium all in one swimsuit with added buoyancy. The Floatsuit is lightweight, easy to use and helps gives your child confidence in the water and is perfect for the pool or the beach. It is also the only buoyancy swimsuit approved by Starfish Aquatics Institute - US and International swimming curriculum and awarding body. All of a sudden, I could float. I didn’t have to worry about sinking. The first time I wore the suit, I swam for about four hours. Using the suit allowed me to enjoy the water with my entire family for the first time in my life.” I am 47 years old and have never been able to float. I took swimming lessons for years in high school, but still couldn’t float. My legs would always sink. If I made it across the narrow end of the pool, it was an achievement. When choosing the right size of suit for your child, don’t go by their age. Instead, measure their chest circumference, body length and weight, to ensure the best fit possible. Foam floats are integrated into the swimming costume, so you can adjust the buoyancy as your child becomes more confident in the water and as their swimming abilities improve. It also means your child can’t easily remove the floats, which is a potential hazard with armbands.

Our Water Wing Vest provides fixed buoyancy and encourages a natural swimming position to get little ones used to using their arms and legs to move around in the water. Featuring a neoprene body and super soft sleeves with foam floats strategically sewn into the arms and shoulders, this vest provides exceptional buoyancy and ease ofmovement as you child learns to swim. Rinse the floatsuit thoroughly in cool water after use and leave to dry naturally, out of direct sunlight. The floats go around the child’s torso, leaving their arms unrestricted. This helps them develop a more natural swimming position in the pool, rather than lifting them upright out of the water, which is what armbands do. Let them choose the style they prefer—there are plenty of options available, including bright patterns and colours to suit every child’s taste. Many of Splash About’s designs come in classic or long-sleeve designs—for example, our navy with white strip design is available as a sun protection floatsuit and in a classic swimsuit design.

The two items that we have are the Speedo Sea Squad Float Vest and the Speedo Sea Squad Floatsuit. They’re both available in Pink and Blue and do the same thing — help your child float in water and help to build your child’s confidence and enable them to learn to swim without the restrictions of armbands. Yes. If your child isn’t potty trained, they will need to wear a swim nappy under their floatsuit. Splash About’s reusable Happy Nappy range can be worn under a floatsuit for a confident, leak-free swim. As the floats are integrated into the swimming costume, your child needs only to put on one garment to have everything they need, rather than having to negotiate a swimming costume and a flotation device. Clean soiled suits in a washing machine on a warm wash with a gentle detergent. Don’t use fabric conditioner as this can damage the material’s UPF coating. Remember to remove all the floats first Floatsuits are essentially a swimsuit and swimming aid in one. Using them means you don’t need to worry about getting your child to wear armbands or rely on them to hold on to floats when they are in the water. Our firstborn is turning three in January and lately, we’ve enjoyed going swimming with her when we get a chance. Now that we have a baby too, we can only go when the whole family is available but it’s something we really like doing as we want our daughter to learn how to swim and be comfortable in the water. It’s also lots of fun, of course! Floatsuits are available as a classic swimming costume style Floatsuit, or in designs with fabric to protect arms and legs from the sun, like our UV Floatsuit. They work in slightly different ways. The Speedo Sea Squad Float Vest Float Vest is a separate vest that you wear over your normal swimsuit. This is especially convenient if you are at the beach and only need to wear your swim aids while you are in the water but still want to wear your swimsuit or UV-suit on the beach. Then you can just take the vest off. We have size 2-4 years and it fits our daughter very well and she seems to like wearing it in the pool and it gives her more confidence as she plays and tries to swim.
