He has had to keep bodyguards around him whenever he was in a location where the Russians operate relatively freely, and he has had to flee certain countries, like Monaco and Spain, where the FSB has a cozy working relationship with local authorities. I would have folded the first time I was threatened with extradition to Russia, never mind taken into custody.
