A large, comfortable, traditional-style pub with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and an imposing bar. Built in 1938 it replaced an earlier pub which stood just in front of the present location on the bank of the River Frays. Within easy walking distance of Uxbridge town centre, and believed to be the only pub of this name, the former landlord thinks that it derives from an old heraldic name but had not yet been able to trace it. Held its first mini-beer festival in September 2008 with hopefully more to follow. Lunch is available from 12 till 3 Friday & Saturday and 1 till 5 on Sunday. Evening meals are served weekdays between 6 and 8.30. Live music every Saturday, a large beer garden with children’s play area and a permanent outside marquee connected to a downstairs bar add to the pubs appeal.

This pub, which is over 400 years old, was formerly the Crown and Treaty House. It was named after the attempt by Charles I and Parliament to reach agreement in 1645. Apart from an old fireplace, the interior of the downstairs room has been completely removed. The public section is one, open-plan area decorated in a smart but modern style and bereft of any old world atmosphere. That the first floor function room cannot be altered is of limited consolation. The only branch pub with a Grade II* listing.

A locals' pub with comfortable seating having been recently refurbished following its sales by Enterprise Inns around 2010, although there is still much evidence of its Courage antecedents. There is picnic style seating both front and rear, the latter of which boasts a smoking shelter. A menu of good value pub food is on the chalkboard and is available daily from Noon until 10.30pm. There are TVs in both bars showing Sport or Dave, with a pool table in the sports bar and a dart board in the main bar as the establishment participates in the Monday league. The front section boasts old framed advertisements for local businesses on the walls and local old photographs can be found throughout. The building is grade II listed.

The only genuine free house in Uxbridge and the deserved winner of several local CAMRA awards. Although it changed hands in 2003, the commitment to selling excellent real ale undiminished and there are usually three regularly changing guests. Near Brunel University, it was built on the site of the Elthorne Light Militia’s officer’s mess and stables. It became a public house in the 1870s when the stables formed the main public area, hence the name. The recently refurbished front lounge has a small TV and still hosts regular darts matches. Live music on Saturdays.

Situated in the old part of town, opposite the church, one has to step down from the street into this attractive-looking pub which was built in the mid-nineteenth century. The earliest documented evidence of a public house on the site is 1544 but it is likely that there has been one from an even earlier date. The pub has had several names but the current one commemorates Anne Boleyn, who is depicted on the pictorial sign. The pub was a Watneys house in 1966 when it was hit by an arson attack but despite this the character of an old pub remains. There is just one, irregularly shaped, bar with bay windows, wooden floorboards, walls mainly of exposed brick and low ceilings. Decorated and furnished tastefully for a historic pub which is grade II listed. On the walls are old photographs of the locality and old framed prints of hop picking and beer making. There is a wooden barrel in the public area of the bar and a large fireplace. Food served daily until 8pm (5pm Sat/Sun)

Dating from the 17th century when it used to be two pubs, the Olde Swan and the Leather Bottle, it was once passed by Charles I, this is a large pub with low ceilings, open beams and plenty of wood panelling. The front of the pub is believed to have been built in the sixteenth century, although it now has a modern projecting gable. The rear extension was added in the seventeenth century. The entrance leads to the oldest section, which has wooden floorboards where lunches are served. This leads down to the bar at a lower level. The compact bar area is stone flagged and has a large old fireplace, which is never used as it generates excessive heat. The covered patio area to the right has stout old timbers including a hollow-chamfered beam. The long standing landlord has been here for over 20 years and unlike the ex-Ind Coope pub itself is not grade II listed
