Crown goes back in time & restores real ale
The pub on the corner of Lansbury Drive and the Uxbridge Road has gone under more names than defendants at the county court opposite. The latest incarnation is Ye Olde Crowne chosen by new guvernor Gary Gilchrist from suggestions by customers of his other pub the Brook House which is close by. Real ale has been reinstated and is currently Pride and Caledonian Flying Scotsman. The pub has had a major refurbishment and the highlights are the cosy brick fireplaces. The steakhouse section should open shortly once the kitchen is complete.
Oakham presented with Beer of the Festival
A presentation took place at the Oakham Brewery for their Green Devil IPA on Saturday 10 November. The trip for beer festival helpers will take place during Aptil.

George Orwell to reopen as Bootlaces The Hayes pub reopened on the 9th of May and was selling 2 guest ales.
Rebellion for Prince Albert
The Rebellion brewery in Marlow has helped the Prince Albert Free House reinstate real ale by using a mixture of pins and the breweries 22 pint mini barrel system to build up trade. Now 2 firkins a week are sold the landlord is considering installing a second handpump.
West Drayton gains another real ale outlet
The Royal British Legion Club in West Drayton next to the former Cherry Tree pub (now Tesco) installed real ale earlier in the year and is doing well. Sharps Doom Bar sells for £2.80 and a weekly guest for £2.90. The club is on the lookout for new members.
Doom Bar for the Wishing Well Acton
The Irish sports bar close to East Acton station is now serving Doom Bar.
Coachmans Inn becomes Young Brunel
The Cowley pub has undergone a makeover with a new tenant taking over focusing on an extensive menu of reasonably priced food. Real ale should be available in the near future.
Recent convert to real ale at risk
The Mill Hill in Acton has been sold by Orchid pubs. It is understood developers want to demolish the 1886 pub and build flats. The pub is due to close before the end of March.
Acton Arms closes after only four months
The former Redback opened in September and was part of the Antic Collective. It is now being marketed for lease by Enterprise Inns.
